National Women's History Museum Launches Enhanced Website
WomensHistory.org provides educational resources for teachers and students and highlights the historic contributions of women to our nation’s history
Alexandria, Va. - The National Women’s History Museum (NWHM) today announced the launch of their new and completely redesigned website, womenshistory.org, created with the support of a grant provided by the PwC Charitable Foundation, Inc. The enhanced website offers online visitors a richer experience and supports the Museum’s efforts to provide innovative and engaging online exhibits, educational programs and resources to highlight the breadth of women’s experiences and accomplishments.
“We are proud to have collaborated with the PwC Foundation to offer a website that provides an enhanced online educational experience—a website that shares knowledge that we hope will inspire and encourage women and men, people of all classes, races and cultures to move into the future with respect, equal confidence, greater partnership, and opportunity,” said Joan Wages, the Museum’s president and CEO. The support of the PwC Foundation was essential to making this important communications tool come to life.”
For more than two decades, the Museum has researched, collected and exhibited the contributions of women to the social, cultural, economic and political life of our nation in the context of our collective history. Its online presence is critical to serving its mission and stakeholder community. Nearly 500,000 active Facebook members and thousands of educators across the globe regularly visit the Museum’s website to locate trusted and robust historic information about women who have achieved great things that deserve to be recognized.
“We are honored to help the National Women’s History Museum scale their work to elevate the contributions of women throughout American History,” said Shannon Schuyler, Chief Purpose Officer and Corporate Responsibility Leader, PwC, and President of the PwC Charitable Foundation, Inc. “Women and girls play a critical role in our economy, in the community and in their families. It's my personal hope that recognizing and celebrating the diverse and historic accomplishments of women -- past and present -- will engage, inspire and instill confidence in their lives.”
The new website includes mobile-friendly virtual exhibits, quick and easy access to essential historic information and features that provide a more comprehensive understanding of the collective history of American women for teachers, students, academics, scholars, those interested in history, and those who want to see women’s contributions included in our nation’s narrative. NWHM’s website will be updated on a regular basis with articles, exhibits, events, and resources for students and educators. Visitors are encouraged to explore the website and sign up for direct emails from the museum here. More information about how to donate can be found by visiting here.
