2024-2026 Virtual Research Fellowship Awards in Women’s History and Museum Studies
The National Women’s History Museum (NWHM) is pleased to announce the opening of a two-year Virtual Research Fellowship Award in Women’s History named for the late entrepreneur and activist Evelyn Y. Davis, AND a second two-year Virtual Research Fellowship Award in Museum Studies in 2024-2026. Applicants should have a strong interest in women’s history, public history, gender studies, and/or museum studies and the applications of these fields outside of academia.
Functioning within the Education and Exhibitions Team as a research associate and providing programmatic and curatorial support to the Museum’s exhibitions conceptualization, virtual education programs, and online presence, the awardees will assist in the development of content for the Museum’s compendium of online learning resources, participate in associated virtual programming, and actively contribute to the Museum’s K-12 research agenda and/or exhibitions planning. These fellowships are part time, flexible schedule (average of 20 hours a week).
Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled students in good standing in a relevant PhD program in the humanities, OR a recent graduate from a relevant Master’s degree-earning program. The predoctoral awardees, whose work at the NWHM may not necessarily correspond directly with his or her coursework or dissertation research, will work remotely for two years between the dates of November 4, 2024 and October 31, 2026 and will receive an honorarium of $30,000 each year. Fellows traditionally take the summer months of July and August off from their duties at the Museum and resume work the Tuesday after Labor Day the following September.
Due to the remote nature of these positions, applicants must have a working laptop with a microphone, camera, and reliable Internet connection and be able to attend regular bi- weekly team meetings scheduled during business hours in the Eastern Time Zone.
