About Dr. Mary Edwards Walker

As a surgeon, women’s rights advocate, abolitionist, and spy, Dr. Mary Edwards Walker became the first female U.S. Army surgeon during the Civil War. She was a staunch advocate for women's suffrage and dress reform, and is the only woman in U.S. History to have received the Medal of Honor.
