Associate Educator, Digital Learning and Innovation

The National Women’s History Museum has an immediate opening for an Associate Educator of Digital Learning and Innovation to join a dynamic Education Department. The ideal candidate for this position is a collaborative and high-energy individual who has experience in museum education, possesses an engaging "on-air" personality, grasps the potential of technology in museums, dreams big, and values collaborative teamwork. The Associate Educator of Digital Learning and Innovation serves as the public face for the Museum’s online learning initiatives and reports to the Education Programs Manager. This position is eligible for 100% remote work. Some evenings and weekends will be required according to program scheduling (~ 2-3 per month).

The Associate Educator, Digital Learning and Innovation ensures rich and diversified online educational experiences for virtual audiences and provides leadership and oversight to digital learning strategies and digital assets management across the organization. This position oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of online educational programming, including online exhibits and digital resources, Virtual Field Trips, Brave Girls Virtual Story Times, Sundays@Home, and other virtually presented educational programs.
Since its inception, the NWHM has developed a wide range of digital initiatives, including a growing biographies library, Virtual Field Trips, online exhibits, and a compendium of classroom-ready digital learning resources, all of which reach students and teachers across the nation. We are fully committed to expanding digital engagement, including increased integration of technology into exhibitions, online video content, and virtual programs for all audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, oversee, and deliver Virtual Field Trip programming, including scheduling and test calls with schools and private clients;
  • Oversee “For Educators, By Educators” Classroom-Ready Digital Resources Development program, programming-related content, and landing pages on website;
  • Develop, oversee, and deliver Brave Girls Virtual Story Time and Sundays@Home virtual programs;
  • Collaborate with IT team to create, maintain, and troubleshoot interactive digital content and online components of website and affiliated microsites;
  • Contribute to overall operations of the Education Department, including developing new programs, assisting with marketing and developing content for social media, and staffing other programs or events as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Development Team on grant application content, other potential funding requests, and related donor cultivation efforts.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Confident, engaging, and compelling public speaker
  • Familiarity with museums and museum education practices (particularly interpretation, online learning, and digital content development platforms), gallery teaching, volunteer management, and/or evaluation
  • Understanding of pedagogical techniques, including approaches to formal and informal learning and expertise in one or more of the following areas: museum education, gender studies, or women’s history
  • Able to synthesize content into compelling, audience-centered experiences for audiences of diverse ages, interests, and motivations
  • Committed to welcoming, valuing, and engaging positively with people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as supporting and promoting an environment that welcomes differences and diversity
  • Exceptional communicator with outstanding written, organizational, analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of innovative programming
  • Manages stressful situations calmly, while remaining hospitable
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; experience with Asana, Drupal, Google Arts and Culture, Google Suite, Adobe Suite, and/or Canva a plus; able to navigate or learn
  • other platforms as needed (e.g., Zoom Webinar Pro, Eventbrite, etc.)


Qualifications

  • B.A. or equivalent experience in Museum Studies, Museum Education, Public History, Education, History, or related field;
  • 1-2 years of experience delivering engaging programming with children, especially grades K-12 in a formal or informal learning setting


Salary Range

  • $75,000 - $80,000 and full benefits package
