Sanae Fujii
Opera soloist and student, Brigham Young University School of Music
Hailing from Honolulu, Hawaii, Sanae Fujii is a young Native-American and Japanese American mezzo-soprano. A sophomore in the Classical Vocal Performance major at Brigham Young University's (BYU) School of Music, her upcoming roles and events include singing as the alto soloist in Bach’s Mass in B-minor with the BYU Concert Choir and Singers, and singing the title role in BYU’s production of Gian-Carlo Menotti’s The Medium. She has sung a range of culturally-diverse repertoire, from Japanese art song to Hawaiian opera. She is proud of her Kainai Blackfoot and Lakota Sioux heritage, and feels especially honored to be singing the work of a fellow Sioux woman, Zitkála-Šá.
