Jamie Coss, Treasurer
Jamie Coss is an attorney, an entrepreneur, and a passionate philanthropist who cares deeply about educational access, material security, and dignified community-based support for disadvantaged groups.
Currently, Coss runs her own consulting business and also serves as co-principal of a family real estate business. Previously, Coss served as General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and board member of Moneycorp USA. Prior to that, she served as General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and board member of Monex USA. In these roles, she was recognized as an expert in her field and was invited to serve both as an instructor for the Money Transmitter Regulator Association and as a speaker at the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists. While Coss’ primary professional experience pertains to foreign exchange money transmission regulatory and anti-money laundering compliance, she has pursued diverse technical interests throughout her career, including a stint as a full-stack engineer in software development, a PhD candidate in microbiology, and a patent attorney.
Coss’ professional career has imbued her with an appreciation for the opportunities that educational access unlocks but also an understanding of the numerous obstacles that inhibit women and other disadvantaged groups from advancement. She considers her most significant professional achievement to be that she attained positions that permitted her to champion, foster, and promote people from traditionally underrepresented groups. In addition to issues related to educational and professional opportunities for women and disadvantaged groups, Coss is also passionate about local food security issues, dignified material support for families, and environmental concerns. Currently, Coss serves as a Regional Council Member of the Smithsonian Institution, and she is also an avid supporter of the Smithsonian National Zoo, Feed the Fridge, DC Central Kitchen, and the Greater DC Diaper Bank.
Coss is originally from China and was raised in Wyoming. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Wyoming and a JD from the George Mason School of Law. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband, son, and two dogs.
